Tailor-made Triumph: How Nellore’s Shabana Expanded Her Garment Business with a Mahila Money Loan

In the bustling city of Nellore, ambitious Shabana Dudekula, at the age of 29, tirelessly operates her sewing machine each day, crafting garments for her valued clients. Amidst discussions about their desired designs, a different conversation takes place in Shabana’s mind — the dream of owning her own shop someday.

“It all began with sewing nighties, the timeless and versatile ladies’ garment that fits all sizes. The demand for them never seemed to diminish. As I indulged in stitching them in various vibrant colours and exquisite patterns, these pieces would be off the shelves at an astonishing pace,” shares Shabana, her eyes gleaming with passion.

With her business flourishing, an idea sparked within her. Why not expand her offerings to include elegant ladies’ suits and blouses as well?

The overwhelming support and encouragement from Shabana’s loyal customers transformed this conversation into a concrete business plan. However, the realisation dawned that financial assistance was vital to bring this plan to fruition. “Being responsible for my family’s well-being, I faced hurdles in arranging the funds required to acquire additional equipment for business expansion. Even the sewing machine I was using was borrowed,” confesses Shabana.

Determined to overcome these obstacles, Shabana approached Mahila Money, seeking a business loan to fuel her aspirations.

With her monthly earnings ranging between INR 10K to 30K, she was granted a substantial loan of INR 1 lakh. “With this invaluable loan, I procured a large quantity of materials. This ultimately boosted the production of my garments which resulted in providing more choices to the customers and an increase in the clientele,” Shabana joyfully declares.

Shabana’s energy and passion are driving her clothing business forward, and it’s on track to be well-known in her town. It’s growing fast and together with her #JiyoApneDumPe attitude, it won’t be surprising if Shabana’s business becomes a shining example of self-reliance and success for the whole state!
