Parijai Genus, A Brand Bringing Plants, Green Spaces, and Women’s Work Together

Meet Ekta, founder of Parijai Genus Pvt. Ltd., a Chandigarh-based woman entrepreneur creating landscapes, green projects, and plant-based solutions for homes, offices, and public spaces across North India.

Parijai Genus works on everything from vertical gardens and large plantations to plant gifting and food forests. Alongside this, Ekta runs the Mool Srishtee Foundation, which trains women and works with children and schools to build greener, healthier environments.

This is the story of how one woman’s love for nature and her belief in women’s financial independence slowly grew into two organizations serving people, communities, and the planet.

Why Ekta Started Parijai Genus

Ekta’s work did not begin with a business plan.

It began with two things that mattered deeply to her:

  • a love for nature
  • and a belief that women should be financially independent

For years, she felt strongly that women who earn their own money gain the power to make their own decisions for themselves and for their families.

At the same time, she felt a growing pull towards the environment.

“We need oxygen to survive,” she says.
“That’s why I believe every corner needs a plant.”

These two ideas came together in her mind: what if green work could also create women’s work?

That question became the foundation of Parijai Genus.

How Parijai Genus Began

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Ekta had spent nearly 19 years as a homemaker.

Then came a transition period in her life, a time when she was shifting from family life to creating something of her own.

“At one point, you have to act on your inner call, irrespective of what others want you to do, including your family.”

She didn’t know exactly how it would look, but she was clear about one thing.

She wanted to build something meaningful.

In 2017, she founded Parijai Genus Pvt. Ltd.

Later, in 2022, she started the Mool Srishtee Foundation so she could expand the work into training women, working with children, and supporting schools and communities.

What Parijai Genus Does

Parijai Genus works on:

  • landscaping
  • vertical gardens
  • plantations
  • corporate plant gifting
  • herbal and food gardens

These services are used by:

  • banks
  • hospitals
  • schools
  • government bodies
  • housing societies
  • event companies
  • and private clients

But the work is not just about decoration.

Many people want plants but don’t know:

  • which plants will survive
  • how to maintain them
  • or how to choose the right ones for their climate

Ekta’s team guides clients on all of this, from soil and sunlight to plant care and long-term maintenance, so that green spaces actually stay green.

How Parijai Genus Earned Trust

The first big break came from IDFC Bank.

They selected Parijai Genus to run their “Gift a Plant” initiative across 21 branches in North India, which later expanded to over 30 branches.

The project did more than deliver plants.

Women were trained to paint the pots, prepare the plants and pack and arrange the gifts

This created income opportunities while also spreading greenery.

For Ekta, this was the moment she knew the idea could work, not just as a mission, but as a real business.

Over time, her work reached clients like the hospitals, schools, and government departments.

Today, many new clients come through referrals.

She says, “The best marketing is referrals.”

Challenges of Building a Green Business

Ekta did not come from a corporate background.

When she started, she had no network, business training, or funding. She learned everything step by step.

One of the biggest shifts came when she attended sales workshops and worked with a business consultant. That helped her understand how organizations think, decide, and buy, which was very different from personal passion.

Another ongoing challenge is that she still runs much of the work herself.

Building a strong team is the next big step for her.

What Helps Parijai Genus Run

One principle guides Ekta’s work:

Ethics and honesty

Before taking any project, she makes sure she has full clarity on what is expected and what can be delivered. That clarity has helped her build long-term relationships and avoid problems later.

She also believes deeply in positive language.

Instead of “mistake” or “failure,” she uses the word “experience.”

“It’s a part of the journey. Like success is an experience, so is failure.”

What’s Next for Parijai Genus

Over the next few months, she is focused on:

  • improving her websites
  • starting SEO
  • reaching her target customers digitally

The foundation is built.

Now she wants the business to be easier to find.

A Win Parijai Genus is Proud Of

This year, Parijai Genus began working with the Indian Army.

For her, this is a deeply meaningful milestone.

She is also proud of how far she has come personally, from starting with nothing to running two organisations with confidence.

How Parijai Genus Has Grown

Ekta started with almost no capital.

Even registering the company was difficult. Her first real investment was around ₹35000 – 50000, arranged through personal effort.

Since then, the growth has been exponential

  • Revenue in 2025: ₹16–17 lakh
  • This year so far this has grown 4 times: ₹50–60 lakh
  • Expected by 21st March: around ₹1 crore

Today, she works with 50+ clients across sectors including IDFC, Alchemist hospital, ITI Ludhiana, Haryana Vidyut Bhawan (HVPNL) and The Indian Army.
